I am currently looking for a part-time assistant to join my studio in Berlin!


This role will ideally suit a candidate who is passionate about making things and has a genuine interest in working with natural materials. The position is primarily a hands-on making role assisting in all areas of sculpture production. You will follow and participate in all aspects of ongoing and upcoming projects. 


Hours: Part-time, 2-3 days per week (days and times are flexible and details can be discussed on a personal basis)


Paid Role: Rate to be discussed based on skills and experience. 

(Must be able to invoice as a registered freelancer)




Main Tasks:

  • General assistance with all stages of sculpture production and finishing. 

  • Material preparation of hempcrete and lime plasters.

  • Working with natural pigments and colour mixing.

  • Note taking, organising and archiving material developments and experimentations.

  • Maintaining tools and materials to support studio operations.


Additional Tasks:

  • Assist preparations and packing of shipments.

  • Assist photo shooting and editing.

  • Assist catalogue preparation and updates. 


Person Specification

  • Passionate about natural materials and material research and development.

  • Strong visual-spatial ability.

  • Reliable and punctual. 

  • Proactive and highly self-motivated. Essential that this person can work independently on certain tasks.

  • Willing and able to learn on the job (dedicated training will also be given)

  • High attention to detail - a natural drive and care for accuracy. 

  • Flexible and adaptable - someone who finds excitement in working on multiple projects at the same time, all in different stages.

  • Process driven.


  • Fluent in spoken English

  • A bit of physical strength is a plus when working in a sculpture studio :)



  • Studied/studying sculpture or equivalently relevant course. 

  • Minimum one year relevant experience working in an art/design studio.

  • Confident with hands-on making and production of sculpture/furniture/objects/models etc. Please give details of this experience in your application. 

  • Confident with sculpture hand tools.

  • Confident with basic power tools.

  • Good knowledge of Photoshop and Indesign.
